Slim Boy Swivel Tool

Description / Application

The Slim Boy™ swivel tool is used to isolate the smallest ID portion of a tapered work string from potentially damaging torque. It is generally run above the Slim Boy circulating tool on small liner applications. Anticipated drilling below this tool must be carefully assessed prior to placing it in the work string since string rotation cannot be transmitted through this tool.

Operation

This tool is placed in the work string when torsional concerns exist. The Slim Boy has a 150-ton load rating, which is sufficient for most tapered string application. It is recommended that PBTD be achieved and there is no anticipated drilling required below this tool. The work string above it is fully rotational and damaging torque below is eliminated.
