Big Strong Boy Debris and Scrap Retriever
Description / Application
The Big Strong Boy™ debris and scrap retriever is an increased capacity capturing device to trap wellbore solids and ferrous particles. This tool was designed operate and capture magnetic and non-magnetic solids even when relatively low annular velocities are achieved in the wellbore. It features a filter screen drainage system for positive debris removal, venturi porting to enhance debris capture through fluid manipulation, a strong permanent magnet section to remove ferrous debris and a robust solid mandrel design with regular or internal flush (IF) tool joint connections for superior torque and tensile strength.
In the dynamic environment of deepwater completions a higher degree of cleanliness is required to prevent non- productive time. This tool will retrieve wellbore debris that has been loosened during scrapping and/or milling operations but not circulated out of the well. These debris and metal fragments would otherwise would fall down the well and onto liner tops and other equipment located lower in the well. Fill on top of this equipment could make tie-back tool installation or equipment removal more difficult and time consuming.
Operation
This tool is generally run above the Bilco Tough Boy™ scraper or brush tool as an integrated approach to clean and make sure well bore cleanliness meets proper standards. This assembly is most effective when exposed to all circulation related to the milling, clean-up and displacement operations. The Big Strong Boy debris and scrap retriever can be run in all well bore fluids and becomes more effective as the solids carrying capacity decreases during fluid change out operations. |
